ones hand, hence the name Palm Pilot, and they make life much more easily managed. They are called PDAs for short and while these little computers have crept into the
lives of most executives, they also have a life of their own. Just as any computer does, these little gems need operating systems. And just like larger computers that sit
on the desktop, they need maintenance and crash on occasion. There are problems with PDAs too and so it is in the interest of anyone using one of these to
consider the software it uses to run. There are a myriad of choices as the market has grown. Here, the focus will be on Windows CE, Windows XP and Linux.
Each has positive and negative attributes in their own rights and while Windows is perhaps a household name in the twentieth century, and synonymous with Microsoft, Linux is not as
well known but thought to be just as valuable as operating systems go. Of course, what one will think about any operating system will go to personal preference, how compatible
it is with ones hardware and familiarity as well. It is sometimes hard to change and people used to Windows are sometimes not ready for Linux. Choosing an operating system
is important as older systems will create problems when combined with newer software. All software needs to be updated and so, in selecting a system, the latest version will
be most desirable. In other words, it does not pay to get a less expensive system if a newer version is on the market as the older one will soon
be outdated. In terms of XP, for example, there are choices within the XP line, and so, there are many variables to consider even when one chooses a system.
