Furthermore, many banks are beginning to integrate services -- it is not uncommon for example, to find a bank  that also offers investment services and insurance products for sale, especially since deregulation of these industries has come about. Banks also offer customers convenience -- customers can either visit  a branch to do banking business, can call to find information about their accounts or can go online to pay bills or transfer funds.  Having said that, there is one bank that seems to have been a pioneer in all of these areas. This bank is USAA FSB, and it is  a bank that has consistently received rave reviews not only from the public (its customers) but also from media that covers the banking industry. Even with the recent bad  news of layoffs and cutbacks, USAA FSB and its parent corporation, USAA, have been met with understanding, rather than the scorn that has been typically directed to other major corporations  that have had to streamline, downsize and lay off employees. This paper will attempt to compare USAA FSB against its competition, and  then to analyze those comparisons. We will discuss aspects of the bank such as competitive differences, market base and customers, trends and changes that USAA FSB currently faces and  key financial issues and operational efficiency. We will then analyze how USAA FSB stacks up to its competition. USAA is a  Fortune 500 company headquartered in San Antonio, Texas -- with offices throughout the United States and Europe (USAA).
