    practice of either discipline. Both Karma Sutra and Tantra are tantric in nature, though the Kama Sutra is more limited in nature. Whether people want to admit it or not,  sexual drive motivates a good deal of the activity undertaken by mankind. Unfortunately, this very special gift has lost that ingredient which the ancients knew, that which moves one from  the mere physical pleasure to a deeper more satisfying spirituality. Practitioners of Tantra believe in the cultivation of pleasure to transcend into higher dimensions of consciousness, beyond the material,  animal orgasm. Thousands of years ago, people had achieved a high degree of awareness and an alchemical formula for converting what we know as sex energy called by many names  such as Chi, vital force or soul, using it to enter into a state of Divinity. Their spiritual philosophy held sexuality as a divine rite and an expression of union  or yoga(Introduction to Tantra, 2003). Tantra, itself, has many definitions. Even the scholars debate as to where the original word came from. Some say it is the Sanskrit or Hindi  word for fabric, meaning that it is woven into our existence. Others say that it is the word for consciousness expansion in Sanskrit. In short summation, Tantra is the highest  possible juncture between love and meditation, connecting the partners to a third dimension. Tantra is not so much a religious philosophy but a life philosophy used to bring one closer  to divinity, God, Spirit, or the Universe. Some experts even state that tantric practices were not limited to the Far East, but was also practiced by many peoples around the  ancient world who recognized the awesome power created during the sexual act of pleasuring. While most fundamentalist religions, even Eastern, Moslem and Christian philosophies, focus on the elimination of sensual
