Indeed, both have been domesticated and adopted into mans family; however, one might readily argue that any similarity ends there, along with the fact that each  animal sports four legs and a tail. There is such a significantly divergent perception of these animals that even human beings have taken sides, establishing clear-cut camps of dogs-  and cats-only people. When the two sides do come together, it is often accomplished with more of an obligatory gesture rather than one out of true affection for the  opposite species. I. PERCEPTION Clearly, dogs and cats view the world from two entirely different perspectives. While cats are cunning and calculating, dogs are often na?ve and bargaining.  These divergent characteristics are what comprise canines and felines as they have evolved over time. Bob Zahn, author of The Difference between Cats and Dogs, implies that although  cats and dogs may be cut from similar spiritual cloth, their genetic and emotional cloth is significantly distinct (Zahn PG).
