    The Constitution of the United States is one of the most admired documents of all  history. It has provided us with the ability to enjoy our individuality and freedom while still under the umbrella of a protective government. This document is the product  of some of the greatest minds in history. Only fifty-five men were involved in the drafting of what would be the most important document in the United States but  the ideologies which they expressed were the product of many others throughout history who had speculated on the role of government and the people (Schmidt et. al., 1995).  The initial environment, however, was one of controversy and differences in opinion. It can be contended, however, that this very controversy and difference of opinion is what resulted in  the strength and timelessness the Constitution exhibits to this day. Twelve states were formally represented by the framers of the Constitution. Although  primarily young and of stable economic background, these men were far from uniform in their backgrounds, beliefs, and opinions. Many were Revolutionary War veterans but many were not, many  were attorneys, many were not. These men comprised the volatile mix which was just right for the insurance of a document which would stand the tests of time.  In "Miracle at Philadelphia: The Story of the Constitutional Convention" Catherine Drinker Bowen brings to life the story of the formation of the  Constitution of the United States, the stormy sessions of 1787 which produced it. The times of the Constitutional Convention were quite instrumental in shaping the product which would emerge
