    one way, this is good -- many believe, and maybe rightfully so, that the government shouldnt be involved in health care. But on the other hand, the current system cant  continue on as it is. Health care costs have increased by ridiculous amounts over the past several decades (Johnson, 2008). Adding to  that, more and more Americans are winding up without any kind of health insurance -- Census Bureau estimates note that close to 47 million people, close to 16% of the  U.S. population, were without health insurance during 2006 (Johnson, 2008). The difficulty here is that, while almost everyone is in agreement on  the dire need for health care reform, almost no one can agree on how this reform is to happen. In this paper, well examine some of the pro and con  arguments for various types of health care reform, and determine, at the end of the paper, whether any of the suggestions would work. How Much Health Care Is Enough?  A problem that pundits bring up in terms of health care is that ensuring every single man, woman and child in the United  States will cost a lot. There just isnt enough to do so. But Welch (2005) points out that a universal health care policy doesnt have to be a "one-size-fits-all" scenario.  Its assumed that when discussions focus on the uinsured, that the categories include derelicts, the homeless and immigrants (Welch, 2005). But, interestingly enough, a good chunk of those uninsured are  younger adults who are working full time and are healthy (Welch, 2005). This group wouldnt necessarily need the same type of healthcare as, say would a family of four, or
