    to be made. This paper seeks to outline the transitional phases that have led to Indonesias democratic consolidation. Indonesia is transitioning in many ways, and not just on the  political front. Their economic systems are being restructured as well as their social relationships with other nations, so as to secure stability between the regions and between classes. Interestingly enough,  this type of consolidation is exactly what the former USSR experienced after the Soviet block was dissembled. What the experience of Russia has shown is that when there are many  smaller republics the mere idea of managing so many changes all at once can be nearly insurmountable. It has become evident that such a transition rarely moves in a forward  direction, but may make many digressions from their intended path. For example, reforms may be made, but the enforcement of those reforms may take time. And even though there may  be new opportunities opening up for Indonesian consolidated states, there is always the possibility of those vocal minorities who want things back the old way. However, the atmosphere is  basically a hopeful one. The first democratically elected government is in power and has begun instituting many reforms that have been needed for decades. Most reports state, however, that it  is not as simple as having elected officials in office. Many of these officials while elected by the people, are not supported by their party well. This means that there  could very well be internal problems when it comes to determining certain course of action on various reform projects and propositions. And, of course, with such internal problems, there is  always the ever present corruption that will occur. To what extent this corruption may occur still remains to be seen, it would seem.
