Single people appear to have more freedom to relocate  and because they do not have much responsibility, they are more likely to be unstable. For example, single people may go out every night and stay out late, whereas a  married person returns to the abode to do some housework and take care of the children. This generalization is of course not true at all. Many single people are tied  to their neighborhoods and families and some married people have clandestine affairs which is rather irresponsible. Dependent upon personality, some married people are ready to move at a moments notice  and will go out and "party" just as a single might. Further, some single people are homebodies and do not live a wild life. The notion that single people live  on the edge is simply false. It is perhaps true that young adults and teens are risk takers and are inexperienced at life. They may be less reliable.  Because some of these young people are less responsible, and are usually single, the stereotype perhaps carries over to any young person, unless he or she is married. Does marriage  really lend stability to life? Is there in fact a prejudice against singles? The answer is mixed. There is certainly a stereotype regarding singles and this is something exacerbated by  media and popular culture. Media considers singles to be party people who are only concerned about romance or sex (Carpenter, 1992). The stereotype does reflect popular assumptions, and these have  had a significant impact on how singles are treated in the culture (Carpenter, 1992). There is a sense that single people can work late or easily go on business trips
