Changes in working patterns and how the global villages workplace is viewed have led to the realization that it is  essential that inter-cultural issues and concerns be understood to exist and addressed. For example, Big Banks expansion into Malaysia requires a great deal more cultural awareness and analysis while the  overall goals of the organization, how it operates, and what options are available for expatriated families must be addressed with a greater measure of consideration if the overall effort is  to be successful. As international cooperation in all types of projects continues to grow in both frequency and importance, the expense and frustration of not properly planning for employee  concerns and inter-cultural problems continue to be of ever-increasing importance. Just as careful attention to the structure and organization of the managerial role is of paramount importance in assuring eventual  success, attention must also be paid to the many human factors involved. Communication Structure of Big Bank The case study immediately establishes the fact that Gerald Carson is a "company  man" who has been willing to accept numerous assignments that would advance his career and position with Big Bank. The fact that he has been willing to move his family  to four cities in the space of only eight years underscores that fact. The case study also makes it clear that the move to Malaysia will be a remarkable "feather  in the cap" of Gerald Carson. What is not so clear and what was not made clear enough for the Carson family was the enormous burdens the move would create.  In terms of who talks to whom, it appears that Carson was more or less handed off to agency after agency and with little cultural preparation for the world
