operation and potential areas of improvement. Objectives with the dissertation The research will assess how employment engagement manifests, the strengths and weaknesses of engagement within the firm  so that improvement strategies may be developed. This will include * Identifying employee engagement theories and best practice * Assessing culture and practice at Basundhara Corporation * Assessing engagement  outcomes at Basundhara Corporation * Identify potential improvement strategies Key Variables The variables to be measured will include measuring positive behavioural traits such as motivation, loyalty and commitment  within different employee groups at Basundhara Corporation, making allowances for time served and seniority. The Theoretical Basis of the dissertation An engaged employee is an individual  who is "fully involved in, and enthusiastic about, is also a work" (Seijts and Crim, 2006). Therefore this is a subject related to motivation theory, the human relations school  of management and the management of the employment relationship. The concept of engagement originated with Kahn (1990), which in turn built on the ideas of organizational engagement of Csikzentmihalyi (1975)  (Macey et al, 2009). The Gallup Poll organization has also added understaffing with their engagement surveys, all adding to the understanding of engagement. Method of Research The  research will begin with an in-depth literature review followed by primary research with the use of quantitative and qualitative research will be used, based on anonymous surveys that will be  distributed to employees across the organization to assess the different variables identified. The use of statistical analysis will identify major trends that can then be checked with the use of  focus group qualitative research. References Huczynski, A; Buchanan, D.
