One day, during a philosophical discussion with a friend, the friend asked, point blank, "Do you  believe in God?" Without hesitation, the person responded, "Yes." When further questioned as to the basis of this belief, the devout Christian replied, "Because, how else could  you explain the creation of the universe and the perpetuation of humanity?" The person smiled, and answered by citing some famous thinkers who had concluded, after years of philosophical  inquiry, that God does not exist. David Hume was among the first to openly question Aristotle and Thomas Aquinas assertion that God is proven to exist. According to  Hume, the historical description of a natural and moral order only grew from mans desire to live an ordered existence, not from Gods existence. Man needs to compartmentalize and  categorize the universe so that it fits within his realm of comprehension. This can only be successfully achieved through the development of the "Gods existence" theory. Then, suddenly,  the universe and everything within it is not so expansive, by explaining the cosmos in terms of a natural order, it all makes sense. Furthermore, there has never been  any scientific evidence to prove that a higher power created the universe. It is, most likely, as with humans, a product of evolution taking place over millions of years.  Further cementing the argument against the existence of God, the philosophy student quotes one of historys most famous atheists, Jean Paul Sartre. According to Sartre, man begins as nothing,  and only becomes something if he decides to make himself so. God has no impact upon what man becomes whatsoever.
