PPdomVio.rtf Domestic Violence and Family Structure: Criteria for Effective Intervention by - 6 Nov  2001 paper properly!  Introduction The student researching domestic violence quickly realizes that it is one of the most disturbing social  issues of our time. Indeed, it is one of the more unfortunate aspects of our increasingly complex urban society. Regardless of the reasons, however, domestic violence is an  inexcusable situation. Most often the targets of domestic violence are women and children. These victims are not only physically endangered, they are humiliated and forced to endure pain  and terror over a significant percentage of their daily lives. They most certainly do not do anything to warrant such treatment. There is no way to predict which  families will suffer from domestic violence and which will not. Indeed the tragedy of domestic abuse is as diverse as the world population itself. Much of the research,  in fact, reports no consistent correlation between any behaviors, attitudes, demographics, or personalities which can be used to predict that one individual will suffer domestic violence while another will not.  There are, however, standard sociological methodologies which make the issues, and potential solutions, for domestic violence more understandable. These methodologies are only applicable, however, when considered in relation
