SA124KFC.rtf  I. Introduction KFC is said to be the number one fast food chicken chain, at least in the United  States ("KFC" PG). It owns or franchises approximately 11,300 outlets , with close to half of those in the United States (PG). It boasts 53% of the US  market, and sells its trademark fried chicken, as well as chicken sandwiches, crispy strips, potato wedges and chicken pot pies (PG). It also sells popular biscuits and specialty sandwiches,  promoted by various methods of advertising. KFC is a division of TRICON Global Restaurants, a spinoff of Pepsico and its sister businesses  are Pizza Hut and Taco Bell ("KFC" PG). TRICON is actually the worlds number two fast food firm after McDonalds (PG). In marketing, it uses a method called co-branding, and  TRICON does group its brands under one roof (PG). KFCs plans for the future is to open about fifty new restaurant stores per year in the United Kingdom, a process  that will continue until 2005 (PG). One of KFCs competitors, Boston Market, came on the scene originally as Boston Chicken ("Boston"  PG). Yet, it filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in 1998 (PG). Soon afterwards, it was acquired by McDonalds Corporation in 2000 (PG). Today, Boston Market operates about 700 restaurants in  twenty-eight U.S. states; the company specializes in home cooked meals that are fast food style (PG). In additional to chicken, Boston Market also sells meatloaf, turkey and ham (PG).
