    March, 2011; FedEx Corporation, 2011). On its first night, Federal Express delivered 186 overnight packages to 25 different cities. The company had 386 employees and owned 14 Falcon jets. That  was the start of the modern air/ground express delivery industry. Frederick W. Smith is still the chairman, president and CEO of this company (FedEx Corporation, March, 2011). Today, FedEx has  more than 290,000 employees worldwide and it owns 697 aircraft that are located across 375 airports across the world (FedEx Corporation, March, 2011). The company has more than 8.5 million  shipments every day; that includes express, ground, expedited and freight across 220 countries and territories (FedEx Corporation, March, 2011). The company also has 80,000 motorized vehicles, 699 FedEx World Service  Centers, over 1,800 FedEx offices, more than 6,750 authorized shipping centers and more than 43,000 FedEx drop boxes, thousands of which are located on post office properties (FedEx Corporation, March,  2011). Federal Express changes its name to FedEx Corporation in 2000. It has made many acquisitions over the years. In 2004, it acquired Kinkos Inc and Parcel Direct (FedEx Corporation,  2011). In earlier years, the company acquired C.J. Tower & Sons, Roberts Carthage, Tiger International, and Viking Freight Inc. (FedEx Corporation, 2011). SWOT ANALYSIS Strengths: * With 2010 revenue  in excess of $34.7 billion and the volume of shipments, FedEx Express is the largest express transportation provider (Hoovers, 2011). It has strong brand recognition. It is a household name  because it was the first and as it has grown, the brand name has become synonymous with fast delivery. * The companys slogan: "FedEx is committed to providing outstanding customer  experience, to being a great place to work, a thoughtful steward of the environment and a caring citizen in the communities where we live and work" (FedEx Corporation, 2011) resonates
