Introduction A great deal of controversy had surrounded the entry of female reporters into the male locker room.  At one time, the locker room was sacrosanct. It was a place for male bonding and one where females were not invited. While some say this is a reflection  of the times, and one where a gender-neutral environment exists, others are distressed. The men are half-naked and the fact that there is not a wider controversy may be indicative  of the times in which the people live. It is a rather extraordinarily liberal society with few traditional ideas or mores intact. People are therefore not concerned with women entering  the male locker room any more they are upset about the coed bathroom on Ally McBeal. At the same time, while women in the locker room are tolerated to an  extent, the role that women play in the locker room does make a difference. Reporters or fans are one thing, but a female coach is quite another.  Religious organizations often exclude women from prominent roles and this is true in many sects of various religions. While today, many women enter the clergy, it has always  been a difficult fight. For quite awhile-and today in many sects of Christianity-it was held that women should not preach to men. Many men continue to hold this idea in
