Based on  analysis of some of these factors, we believe that Household Finance would be a good company in which to invest. As well see in this essay, the company offers a  solid balance sheet, a good rate of return on its financial instruments, and a trustworthy name to boot. Household Finance Corporation (HFC)  is a wholly owned subsidiary of Household International, Inc., which offers products both nationally and internationally through additional subsidiaries (New York Stock Exchange, 2002). Household International has its business in  three reputable segments: consumer, credit card services and international (New York Stock Exchange, 2002). HFC provides middle-market consumers with several types of  loan products including real estate secured loans, auto finance loans, MasterCard and Visa credit cards, tax refund anticipation loans and other types of unsecured loans (New York Stock Exchange, 2002).  HFC has built an exceptionally strong reputation on auto finance loans and more recently, loan consolidation and mortgage refinancing. Other products offered include credit and specialty insurance products (New York  Stock Exchange, 2002). Founded in 1878, HFC is one of Americas oldest consumer finance companies (Household Finance Corporation, 2002). In this paper,  well attempt to measure some factors that might make this company an attractive investment. Well examine the companys portfolio and debt/asset instruments offered, as well as financials (such as net  income, assets, debt and liabilities).
