Arabic countries and the west is greater. As the area is also the major oil production region, the way in which environmental accounting may be see as being at least
as important here in terms of global interests. The main question will be to look at what the differences are in environmental accounting practices in the UK and in one
or selected countries in the Arabian peninsula. The paper can then consider the way the difference manifest in the accounting practices and the operational practices of companies in different regions
and those that operate in both regions. By understanding these differences and the impact they have a model of best practice for companies operating in both regions may be ascertained.
2. Theoretical Basis The accounting framework tends to become more complex the greater the level of investors and need for shareholder confidence. The Arabic nations have a great deal of
foreign investment, and have seen influences form a range of countries. The culture is different, and this is likely to result in some difference. The major difference is the culture
and the economy. It is hypothesised that there will be major difference in environmental accounting practices due to the presence of the oil industry and also the aims of many
