From within the leisure industry and the home to the potential business uses, such as the use of the increased capabilities of technology for use in business  presentations or data storage in either video or audio formats or as pure data storage. The development of the discs that contain  this information has transformed the computing industry as well as the visual entertainment industry. The introduction and development of video made large transformations, and when we consider that DVD is  simply the next step on, but also a large step we can expect to see developments and changes of a similar magnitude.  The way that video changes the leisure industry was immense, these changes were also reflected in the way that business changed their operations, form training videos to sales presentation videos.  The social practises of time shifting television programmes as well as watching and then re-watching favoured films or television programmes became more acceptable and commonplace. The introduction or more channels  that was made possible as a result of the digital age made these practices even more acceptable in the eyes of the consumer, with the perception of the different repeats  and formats changing greatly. When we look at the take up of the role of the video recorder the acceptance and take  up of the equipment in the mainstream was heralded, but took time for it to reach a level of maturity in the market place.
