has been the case for so many others, I came to nursing after first working in other fields. I began as an LPN and remained at that level for
several years. I found that the more I knew about nursing and patient care, the more I wanted to know. I gained my RN certification in the belief
that the increased levels of responsibility and patient involvement would satisfy my desires for knowing and doing more. What I found instead was that it opened an entirely new
perspective and breadth of possibilities for me. Professional Goal I recently left the long-term care setting I love to return to the hospital
setting for the purpose of gaining the experience that will round out my r?sum? of professional experience. This is the same hospital in which I began as a nursing
assistant several years ago; I returned as an RN in a greatly changed environment and with a much wider range of personal experience.
Ultimately, my professional goal is to open and manage an assisted living facility for seniors in the Erie, Pennsylvania area. I have extensive experience in the long-term care setting
as an RN giving me an understanding of seniors physical needs, and I also have experience with the administrative aspects of nursing home management. I worked as director of
health services at one nursing home where I managed and $350,000 budget and dealt with government compliance issues, and I worked as director of nursing at another nursing home where
