has been the case for so many others, I came to nursing after first working in other fields. I began as an LPN and remained at that level for  several years. I found that the more I knew about nursing and patient care, the more I wanted to know. I gained my RN certification in the belief  that the increased levels of responsibility and patient involvement would satisfy my desires for knowing and doing more. What I found instead was that it opened an entirely new  perspective and breadth of possibilities for me. I have extensive experience in the long-term care setting  as an RN giving me an understanding of seniors physical needs, and I also have experience with the administrative aspects of nursing home management. I worked as director of  health services at one nursing home where I managed and $350,000 budget and dealt with government compliance issues, and I worked as director of nursing at another nursing home where  I had full responsibility for all nursing services.
