    construction of large, commercial buildings. Much of the work for the company is done in-house, and the company employs its own crews to excavate, lay foundations, put up structural steel  (as the basis for the buildings) and complete the exterior masonry on most of the buildings. However, the problem came about when  Jack Marsden, project director for the company, was ordered by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) to close down a particular project until a specific list of hazardous practices  was stopped. The project in question, an Excel Hotel, was important, as it was the cornerstone of a major citys convention center. Without the hotels completion, the convention center itself  would be stalled in its tracks. In the following section, well provide a SWOT analysis of both the company and its  training habits. Strength. The one main strength that Petrie has going for it is that it already does have a training  program in place. Marsden, in a conversation with Bob Petrie (president of the company), notes that each of the crews goes through a training program before theyre put on a  project, with each employee being run through the rules, tested for their knowledge of the rules and demonstrating the correct and proper work procedures to the supervisors. So the implements  are in place to help out both the crews and the management, to ensure that they comply with OSHA requirements. Another strength  is that because Petrie hires its crews in-house (rather than sub-contracting the work out to other companies), it has more control over recruiting, hiring and training.
