honest" whereas todays employees are not perceived as having the same values. It is undeniable times change; as the social environment changes and evolves it is not surprising that those
living in that society will also change; this can include changes in attitude and values. There are many influences with bidirectional interdependences between many factors including economic conditions, technological influences
as well as the media and social attitudes (Bilton et al, 2003). If there are changes in society then the people that emerge within that society are likely to
reflect these changes The changes that impact on the workplace may be seen from many different social patterns. 35 years ago there was a different work place patterns,
there was less mobility within the workplace. This created a higher level of commitment to the employer by the employee as there was a greater expectation to remain with the
firm for longer. However this has changed; there is an increasing level of temporary and part time employment (Haralambos and Holborn, 2004). This may be seen as lead by
the employers who have needed to cut costs and increase flexibility. A large number of motivation models will indicate that were employees
feel there is less commitment towards themselves they will react; with less commitment and loyalty. This has created a commercial environment where employees to not expect to stay and where
there is a greater advantage to employees in moving between employers. This his a scenario that has been created by employers as much as the employees, who not only require
flexibility but has also adapted recruitment strategies in order to maximize the resources they have, taking advantage of employees who have gained experience and skills elsewhere (Huczynski and Buchanan, 2007).
