weather conditions. III. Conclusion Rapid, modern, transportation is desirable but all forms of travel do have hidden dangers. Changes in transportation have been phenomenal, particularly since the
turn of the century when motor vehicles were introduced. Cars and trucks allow people the mobility they need to commute to work, visit friends, go on vacation and so forth.
It allows a kind of mobility that provides a way for people to get to the supermarket or the local Blockbuster or the PTA meeting easily in any kind of
weather. Also, many items are still shipped by truck and many are familiar with the UPS or Fedex vehicles that deliver products and paperwork to the homes of recipients.
Railroad transportation is also a wonderful innovation and provides a way for people to either travel long distances or commute on a daily basis to work at a nearby metropolitan
area. It also allows for the occasional city excursion for suburbanites. The railroad is used for shipping as well. Pipeline systems for freight transportation have many desirable features as they
have little environmental impact and because they are closed, can operate in any weather condition (Zhao and Lundgren PG). Air transportation has allowed people to fly rapidly on business
