    Summary of the research paper:

    This 67 page paper represents the first three chapters of a Master's thesis. Chapter 1 includes the statement of the problem, purpose, importance, rational and overview. Chapter 2 is a comprehensive Review of the Literature. The history of each leadership and management are covered separately. Leadership theories and practices are reported, including autocratic, democratic, laissez-faire, Theory Z, transformational and transactional. The history of management begins in the late 1800s and covers the major theories from Taylor through the present. The importance of human resource management and employee motivation management are also discussed. Chapter 3 is Methodology including a full discussion of the historiographical research approach. Table of Contents is included. 1 Table is included. Bibliography lists 46 sources.

What trends do we observe in leadership and management theories? 2. What trends do we observe in leadership and management practices? 3.  What leadership and management characteristics are needed for the future? Purpose of the Study The purpose of the study may be stated very simply. The purpose is to analyze  future trends and practices in leadership and management by reviewing the history and current trends in these two fields. Importance of the Study Volumes have been written about leadership  and management, on both a theoretical and a practical side. Actual theories related to management can be traced to the late 1800s. Leadership theories do not have as clear or  definitive history. Of course, we must acknowledge the skills of leadership and management have been used since the beginning of time.
