    situation of repartitions - which is actually in process - involves the repayment of money to slave laborers and even reparations to Holocaust victims and their families. While it is  difficult to repay for lives lost, German companies, through various allocations, are doing their best to right the wrongs that their companies committed during the 1930s and 1940s.  On March 23, 2000, negotiators finally agreed on how to allocate money from a $5 billion fund that was developed with the help of  German industry and the German government to compensate Nazi-era slaves and forced laborers (Agreement Reached on Distribution of Funds for Slave Laborers, 2002). It was agreed that $4 billion would  be used to compensate the slaves and forced labor victims, with another $500 million used to cover claims for property, bank accounts and insurance policies stolen by the Nazis (Agreement  Reached on Distribution of Funds for Slave Laborers, 2002). An additional $350 million will be used for a foundation go sponsor research and educational products around the theme of Nazi  labor (Agreement Reached on Distribution of Funds for Slave Laborers, 2002). Under the deal that was decided, those people who were put to work in concentration camps and who were  expected to die while doing their jobs would receive up to $7,500 each, while forced laborers who worked in the factories, could receive up to $2,500 each (Agreement Reached on  Distribution of Funds for Slave Laborers, 2002). Part of the reason why Germany is so eager to make reparations is to find  a quick settlement to the lawsuits that seek reparations for wartime acts (Vincent, 2002).
