    crimes can suffer for their entire lives because of whatever crime was inflicted upon them. For example, a rape victim, whether it be date rape or an incredibly violent rape,  can be scared for life. They may find that they cannot experience intimate relationships with anyone and that they are always fearful, if not neurotic. Of course, there are simpler  crimes, such as a robbery or mugging, but even these can be crimes that leave a lasting impression that is never forgotten. Bearing that in mind the following paper examines  what it would be like to be a victim of a crime. The crime is the death of a loved one due to violence. Victim of a Crime  When we think of being a victim of crime we, more often than not, imagine being the direct victim, the victim who experiences the crime first hand. However, many crimes  leave victims that are the loved ones of those harmed. And, perhaps the most affected victims in this sort of situation are those who are left with a family member  having been killed through some senseless act. One such case comes to us through the experiences of a father who lost his child in the Oklahoma City bombing. His longing,  his anger, his confusion, have not receded and he is a victim of crime. We see how this man is affected by his position as a victim as he  illustrates his attempt to come to terms with the event: "Every day for a year, Id come by the fence that encircles the footprint of the Murrah building, where it  once stood, where she died. And during the first few months after the bombing, I was not opposed to the death penalty for Timothy McVeigh" (Welch, 1997; p. 36). However,
