    a first mover advantage to place this in a virtual world, where there are fewer geographical barriers. Here they can adopt a more direct selling model, where they act as  the middleman but never have to hold stock overnight, only getting in that which has been sold direct to the public. The case shows an entrepreneurial company that is  initially focusing on North America because of the higher level of early adopters in the area. This indicates the type of business, one that is innovative, differentiated in terms of  the way the auctions took place the Dutch auctions are different from usual auction where the price increases, with the price decreasing over time. This introduced a new element  into auctions, bringing in a gaming element. There is innovations, as the internet at this time was in the early development stages, therefore the company is seeking to gain  an advantaged in terms of not only the offering of the Dutch auctions, and the presentation with the count down clocks on the screen, but also though the fast delivery,  starting with the automated cost of delivery calculations that took place immediately. This was offering a service that was also unusual, allowing consumers to obtain their good quickly. These  elements were those that offered an advantage over other internet auction sites, the goods were sold by the company themselves as agents and as such they were able to control  the goods being sent out, rather than acting as a go between where the exchange was then down to the third party only. The main attraction of the system was  the different, the element of gaming and watching the clocks count down. Question 2 To be successful ILI needed to be ore than innovative and a first mover
