Internal and  external factors may help facilitate the implementation of strategy. There are several ways this can be considered, but one useful tool is that of a SWOT analysis. This is  a tool that looks at the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats a company face and has a practical application of the way they are interpreted. The aspect of the strengths  and weaknesses of the company can be seen as being a good indication of what may be needed for the company to move forward (Thompson, 1998). If there is a  strength of customer service, there may be a way of capitalising on this, with this being used to help facilitate a strategy of differentiation just as a large company may  use the strength of size to help facilitate a cost advantage by using the bargaining power to gain economies of scale (Nellis and Parker, 2000).  However, it is a weakness then there is a way of changing the strategy to improve the way that value is added to the customer and  more custom gained. If a weakness is location then this may be the opportunity for change. Weaknesses may also identify the way in which there are difficulties in realising a  strategy. Looking at threats there are also internal threats, such as poor employee relation or weak financial structure which may help to  aid of hinder a strategy. For example in many companies where there are some financial difficulties and there are limited resources, the development of a team culture and a need
