a few - some senior citizens actually look forward to crossing over from ones mortal state into a much less painful spiritual state. With such a low life expectancy,  coupled with myriad sociopolitical obstructions, Indonesias elderly population faces many obstacles in relation to growing old. II. FACTORS OF AGING Indeed, environmental factors that impact aging in Indonesia are  both grand and far-reaching. As the world continues to succumb to the effects of global warming, some areas of the planet have been discovered to be significantly more susceptible  to the detrimental affects than others. For the most part, overpopulated underdeveloped nations stand to suffer a much worse outcome than their developed counterparts, inasmuch as the change in  climate will directly influence the manner in which their environments react. Such countries as Indonesia appear to be on a collision course with time, inasmuch as their entire economic  and environmental stability will likely crumble as global warming eventually wreaks its final havoc (Anonymous, 1998), further serving to compromise the nations elderly population. According to the Climate Institute in  Washington, DC, what occurs in these underdeveloped countries will adversely affect how its people are able to cope, even to the point of staying alive. As global warming continues,  it influences the sea level; as the waters continue to rise, they will ultimately "displace the population in the coastal areas, decrease agricultural production and destroy fisheries" (Kleiner, 1994, p.  6), which, by the year 2010, will effectively serve to significantly cripple the already restricted economies of these countries. Countries like Indonesia are  suffering such environmental degradation - and thereby threatening the survival rate of its elderly population - because of countries like China, whose explosive population has caused its consumption to stretch
