In their youth, these men showed a reckless disregard for their health, as most youth do. However, as these men age and begin to experience the physical effects
of time, their concern with their bodies and health has become more acute. Not to be minimized is the psychological component which accompanies these health concerns. While
these men realize that the aging process has caught up with them, many try valiantly to hold on to their remaining youth. Such attempts are actualized in a variety
of ways - everything from the proverbial sports car to plastic surgery to spa and wellness treatments and everything in between. This has presented some interesting changes in society
as most wellness and beauty treatments had traditionally been geared toward women. However, the smart retailer today recognizes the impact of male baby boomers and their regard for such
products and services as well as the women. Health Issues and Concerns for Male Baby Boomers Today there are about 80 million
baby boomers in the United States - men and women who were born between 1945 and 1965 (Sherman, 2002). Slightly less than half of this number represents men.
Clearly, there are many issues which correlate to this particular group, namely a host of health concerns which are becoming more and more significant as this group ages.
