    a position where we need to come face to face with this industry. And, one of the major problems lies in the fact that when we do face this industry  we are distraught, confused, and in mourning. These are very powerful issues, and in all honesty, issues which help to make the funeral industry one that can not only thrive  economically, but one that can take great advantage of the people. In Jessica Mitfords book, "The American Way of Death Revisited" she goes into the heart of the funeral industry,  once more, illustrating how the industry has changed over the decades, and how it is a very unique and perhaps corrupt business that can benefit from change. In the following  paper we address some of the specifics discussed by Mitford and then present an examination of what the future may hold if another investigation of the funeral industry were to  take place in a few more years. Specific Points Mitford presents the reader with an incredible amount of information about the funeral industry. Her words and her observations  are often incredibly humorous and morbid. Hers is an investigation that follows up on realities she studied several years ago. In better understanding some of the conditions which are part  of the funeral industry we turn to examining a few conditions presented by Mitford. This particular writer noted that in the first few pages of Mitfords book, wherein she  discusses a seminar she attended, there was a marketing and business focus to the discussion. One individual, in illustrating how important advertising and marketing was to the business, presents us  with an image that almost appears to be the equivalent of ambulance chasing. The speaker mentioned how an individual, for example, could purchase a great number of apples and then
