The company already has a strategy that  displays an understanding and use of knowledge management. This indicates a good foundation, but there are still outstanding areas where opportunities exist that would be cost effective to leverage. The  enclosed proposal outlines a way that the company would be able to use existing resources in an effective manner and turn much of the tacit knowledge within the company into  explicit knowledge in order to benefit the company. Executive Summary  Knowledge management is an important, and growing area of interest. It can be the source of competitive advantage and at the very least when used effectively will benefit the company.  One of the best types of knowledge management will take tacit knowledge and convert it into explicit information in a format that can be used by the company and its  employees. Molnlycke Health Care, established in 1998 as the result of a merger between the clinical divisions of the SCA/ Molnlycke Group from Sweden and Tamro Oy from Finland  has been very successful, in the first year the turnover was in excess of ?2 million, but there are desire to increase sales further. The company has a system in  place that effectively utilizes knowledge management to help the sales force; Cognos ReportNet, but this is now seven years old and the company could benefit from this system being updated.
