    Moet and Chandon and Hennessey to other types of luxury goods including fashion and leather goods, jewellery, watches, perfumes and cosmetics. The brand names are almost like a collection of  some of the finest goods that are sold across the globe. LVMH is made up of many old names and is a group of companies since its formation in  1987, the aim appears to have been to create a group of companies where there is the potential to gain synergy from the joint operations while maintaining independent brand names  with separate identities. There also appears to be the desire to grow, in May 2007 the scope of the busyness was expanded with the purchase of a 55% majority stake  in Wen Jun Distillery; a premium distillery in China (Socha, 2007). Wit the desire to grow it can also be appreciated why there are already a total of 50  LVMH stores in China. The actual synergies that are gained are limited due to the independence of each of the brands, the links between them do not appear to  be leveraged, however, to use that strategy may also endanger the brand name and association that have taken many years to develop. To consider the company a SWOT analysis can  be used. 2. SWOT Analysis of LVMH The LVMH group has a large number of strengths. The range of well known brand names that have strong positive associations is extensive.  Moet and Chandon whos history began in 1743, other drink brands include; Dom P?rignon, Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin and the Glenmorangie Company among others. Louis Vuitton is a brand that started  in 1845 with the founder making trunks and extending into other leather goods, other brands in the group include such well known names as Givenchy S.A., Donna Karan, Parfums Christian
