    Summary of the research paper:

    This 22 page paper answers four questions regarding a case study supplied by the student. The first looks at why understanding cultre is important to consultants that want to promote inward investment in the area surrounding the M6. The second explains what is meant by Net Present Value (NPV), how it is calculated and the relevant of hurdle rates and weighted average cost of capital (WACC). The third question considered the importance of time to market and the last part pf the paper looks at how to change a company culture from low trust to high trust in order to gain commitment from the employees. To achieve the desire impact in a series of trade shows across the new European countries the partnership needs to  understand the importance and impact of culture, this may focus on national cultures which is likely to reflect in corporate cultures, but also corporate cultures. This will enable communication to  be undertaken in a more effective manner so that the message that the partnership want to send is the same as message is received.  There are many ways in which culture may be seen as being formed, communicated, emphasised and retained. The culture may be seen as the embodiment of the norms,  values and beliefs. These may be seen as isolated within the company, or reflections of the wider general culture of the area or region.  Hofstede, looking at culture from a national dimension takes an holistic view, arguing that "mental programs in people in general, and values and culture in particular" (Hofstede, 2003).  Furthermore that the culture is "the collective programming of the mind that distinguishes the members of one group or category of people from another". It is with this difference we  can look to how culture may be important when it comes to communication, as it is the differences between different groups of people. According to Trice and Bayer cultures are  collective, emotionally charged, historically based, inherently symbolic, and dynamic (Trice and Beyer, 1993). This is a similar definition and may be seen as relating more to norms and values that  are inherent in a culture, (organisational or national). Norms may be seen as the behaviour that is seen as normal within that
