The potential efficiencies are not limited to the commercial environment, the public sector and non profit making organisations have many  constraints on resources and may also benefit from the use of information technology to help collect, manage store, analysis and control data flow in an organisation. One type of  programmes used widely is the management information system which may be argued as having a great deal to potential for use in educational establishments in terms of resource use and  the improvement of standards. The DfES has a vision that "essential management information will be routinely held shared and used electronically by all schools to underpin high-quality leadership and learning.  Electronic management information will be part of day-to-day school business and will help raise educational standards".
