-- properly! Introduction The story of Macbeth is a complex tragedy. It is truly the story of one mans demise
through his greed and his pursuit of power. And, it is also a tale which illustrates the demise of his wife as well, for she was just as greedy and
just as involved in putting her husband in a position of power. These two people could not leave well enough alone, as it related to the predictions of some witches,
and because they were determined to help these predictions along, thereby affirming their greed and pursuit of power, they lost everything in the end. In the following paper we examine
the quest for power and the existence of greed in Macbeth and Lady Macbeth, and then discuss the consequences of those pursuits. Macbeths Quest for Power and Greed
Interestingly enough, in the beginning, when we learn of the witches predictions, Macbeth is eager to achieve the position of King, but not so eager to do what he sees
should be done to speed things along. He believes the predictions of the witches, and thinks that he may well be benefited by killing King Duncan. But, he is hesitant
about doing such a thing. It is, however, Lady Macbeth who urges him on. It is Lady Macbeth who searches for power in a very powerful and active manner. She
convinces Macbeth that murder is the best way to secure his position, but he wavers. She comes back at him and almost derides him for being a simpleton that goes
back on his word, convincing him once again that they should continue with the plan: "What beast wast, then, That made you break this enterprise to me? When you durst
