    that does not mean the economy is simply more international or more multinational. This global economy operates on different principles than in the past and it is driven by different  forces. The different principles create a different order that requires dramatic changes in the practice of management. For companies to compete successfully, their managers must adopt a global mindset. The  global mindset is the ability to understand a specific business, a sector in an industry or a specific market on a global basis. One key point is that as  organizations change so must the managerial staff. Jeannet explains the transition from one mindset to the next over time. These include the domestic mindset, which depends on one market  and which limits the managers thinking and perspective. The next is the international mindset, which would be based on experiences in one or more other countries. Even in-depth experience in  another country is not the same as having a truly global mindset. The next step is the regionally mindset, which might include Europe or Latin America and which provides the  manager with experiences in the countries in that region. The multinational mindset is developed when executives have has a number of successive assignments in several countries. Even these types of  experiences may not lead to a global mindset. By contrast, the executive who has a truly global mindset is able to see across multiple regions or territories and is also  able to see the commonalities among many different markets. Thus, the global mindset manager sees commonalities rather than differences. Managers and executives who have a global mindset are able  to see the business opportunities that exist across multiple geographic regions and markets. Managers must learn how to find the global logic in any given market. This includes analyzing
