Traditionally, media  was thought to be a source of viable information to the masses yet history shows that media was also used as much for the pleasure and entertainment of the masses  as it was to provide information about current, world or political events. In todays newspapers, although seemingly filled with violent news, they are also filled with "feel good" stories, entertainment  sections, film and literary reviews as well as the classic comic, jumble and crossword features. In the Victorian era, the mass media were the providers of scandals and serial novels  highly popular in that time. Although violence in television may not seemed pleasurable and entertaining, since the times of the Romans, humans have massed together to partake in the pleasures  of watching violence and this trend is still found in todays society in television shows, movies and in video and computer games (Surette, 1998). The consumer still seems very interested  in the idea of violence as entertainment and as a source of pleasure. In todays society the increasing tolerance of violence as pleasure in the media has increased the concern  on the futures of children who are currently nurtured on violent images as pleasure. In an equal area of concern, owners of mass media companies are now considered as responsible  for these images and any results which may ensue (Surette, 1998). Since the end of the Cold War, trends in todays media have also reverted back in time to  the era of the 1920s before the time when the political powers were in charge of news content and the stakes of the free press were smaller and the press
