This 12 page paper accompanies a proposal to assess future strategies for the Irish low cost carrier RyanAir. This paper looks at the way in which past research has been undertaken including elements such as moderating, extraneous and confounding variables. The paper consider show this research has been conducted and the results measured and how it may be applied with the primary research. The bibliography cites 12 sources.

but in many cases there are clearly identifiable variables. Overall the approach to research in this areas has not been one of experimentations, but one of observations of cause and
effect, this has meant in many cases there are a plethora of confounding and/or extraneous variables due to the context of the observations as well as the way in which
there are different resources for each of the airlines, not only physical resources, but also human capital and intellectual knowledge or experience that may result in similar circumstances resulting in
different actions (Bryman and Bell, 2004). These will be present in most business research, but where there is the interaction and the
results of the target market and few controls in the real environment different so it may be argued that the same factors may be present in the entire market. However,
allowances need to be made for this impact. The research has to take into account these different factors to that research applied to some companies may be adapted with
the influencing factors all accounted for rather than ignored. Looking at RyanAir this is a fairly new airline, they have been very successful and appear to have a much higher
level of profit that other low cost airlines. However this airline, although well known has not been subject to a great deal of research. Most articles that appear regarding the
airline have been descriptive, explaining event that have or are likely to occur and giving an insight to some of the potential extraneous influences that may be seen as well
as the moderating and confounding. A much more mature area of research has been that of the academic research into strategy and the way it is used or can
