    is often the case and it constitutes a real social problem in our society. But, what is often not discussed is when women batter men, and this too is  domestic violence. While it is true that domestic violence against men is not as common as domestic violence against women, it is still more prevalent in todays society than most  people realize. Furthermore, the effects are just as damaging and in fact a significant number of men are even killed each year from domestic violence. It therefore is very  important to bring attention to this matter in order that people can discuss it openly and freely. Without candid discussions about domestic violence which is directed toward males, the  problem will not be able to be addressed nor solutions proposed. Domestic Violence Against Men Begin your discussion of the topic with an  interesting story or fact: How many times in movies or television do we witness a woman slapping a man across the face? There are many such instances which  come to mind, such as when Andie McDowell slaps Bill Murray in Groundhog Day (Parker, 2002). And yet, most people think nothing of this (Parker, 2002). Typically, this  is seen as the justified act of an irate female instead of violence against men (Parker, 2002). And, what about the mens reaction? When was the last time  you saw a man say to the woman that he wouldnt accept such treatment or that he was going to turn her in to the police? Probably never.  Man tend to maintain their macho image and simply turn the other cheek - both literally and figuratively (Parker, 2002). Now imagine the same scene but with the
