Based in Richmond, Dominion Virginia Power is a public utility serving much of the state of Virginia. The parent company operates in 11 states; an extension of  the company is Dominion North Carolina Power. Overall, Dominion is one of the nations largest energy companies, one that deals in far more than only electricity. It carries  a "portfolio of approximately 26,500 megawatts of generation, 1.1 trillion cubic feet equivalent of proved natural gas and oil reserves and 14,000 miles of natural gas transmission, gathering and storage  pipeline" (Dominion Releases Dimensions 2008, 2008). Focusing on true alternatives that can be sustainable over generations will lead Dominion Virginia Power
