Introduction Ancient myths, because of their fundamental universality, are still the foundation of many of the plots, adventures,  and stories that make up the drama of the modern age. Super-human strength, romantic liaisons between forces of great power, and battles between titans are all a part of the  mythos of modern life. What is important to understand is that each of those frameworks or archetypal thinking are grounded in the stories, myths, and histories of the ancient age.  The heroes of the great myths are almost always involved with legendary or historical events of broad-based significance that involves great and bold action. Most myths deal with the adventures  and accomplishments of a single individual, which provides for the unified theme of the work. And, most often, the myth includes the involvement of magical powers that develop the processes  and actions confronting the hero. As a direct result, there is generally conflict in the form of physical conflict and dangerous encounters with enemies who may or may not  be human.
