    However, one could make the accurate statement that with the advent of such advanced communications between nations, the boundaries have been blurred and this feature of globalization has led to  a type of dilemma for the modern state. How does the modern state operate, for instance, in the global economy? And, what types of barriers may erupt from these changing  boundaries? What is evident is that the world is headed for a time incredibly and vastly different from any other age in history. How each country, nation and state reacts  to this will determine how the era shapes up and may very well spell the boon or bust future for the worlds economies. National boundaries have traditionally served several purposes  in the past. First they were able to draw distinct lines which separated or included certain individuals in a participation in various decisions which affected their community, and in essence  this is one of the hallmarks of a democracy, to determine the course of ones own life and community. But what if those boundaries go beyond the immediate community and  instead stretch beyond even national barriers? It would seem that some characteristics of democracy might suffer. For example, how would a community determine its members? By physical presence in the  community? Or by participation in the issues of a community? Where does one draw the line? As the basic premise of democratic government suffers and undergoes some final changes, one  has to wonder if the national resolutions of these questions can be open to any doubt. In fact, what may very well happen is that for democracy to be  as effective as it has been in the past, it may become internationalized(Kesselman, 2000). This would bring about a type of cosmopolitan law and the development of world communities. This
