    Summary of the research paper:

    In the 1970’s and the 1980’s Nestle suffered as a result of their policies in the developing world for the sale of baby milk formula. This 20 page paper is written in two parts examining the problems that the company faced. The first part of the paper is written as a position paper and discusses whether the company should have continued selling the product in the developing world or if it would have been better for Nestle to withdraw from this market. The paper uses a range of ethical approaches to come to his decision. The second part of the paper looks at the issue form a public relations (PR) perspective, considering the mistakes that were made by Nestle, how and why they were made and the lessons that can be learnt.     and selling was seen as having a negative impact on the health and wellbeing of the babies as the formula was often misused. The result of a negative article "The  Baby Killer" which was reprinted in Germany with the title "Nestle Kills Babies" harmed the reputation of nestle, however, they did not help their own cause, the subsequent court case  the way in which the matter was dealt with only exacerbated the situation leading to a major boycott of nestle products and negative publicity intentionally.  . The company was in a difficult position; in hindsight it is possible to see many mistakes were made, however, it is also possible that whatever  the company did and however it reacted the actions would have not only had a negative publicity impact but may have harmed. In this paper we will start by developing  a position paper for Nestle looking at whether they should sell the formula in the developing world of whether it would have been better to withdraw from this market in  response to the public appeals. The second part of the paper will look at the issue of public relations and the way the entire issue was handled along with the  mistakes hat were made. 2. Position Paper There are clearly arguments for an against the selling of baby formula in the developing world. The arguments against this are well known  and have been repeated often the press. The first issue is that it has been proven many times that breast milk is best for the infant, this is the natural  food source and many issues that are present in bottle feeding are not dangers with breast feeding. However, the wide scale availability of formula in the developing world and
