    has achieved its plans. Most often, when devising a strategic plan, the focus is on the whole organization rather than a particular product, program or service. Every organization has some  type of strategy. Some strategies are effective. Some strategies are not. The difference is that the strategies that are effective and that successfully accomplish the organizations mission  are the ones that are intentionally spelled out, communicated and serve as a type of measuring stick for every decision and directional shift that an organization makes. There are many  different perspectives, approaches and model which are used in strategic planning. The most important of these is to properly assess the current status of the company. COMPANY SUMMARY Nestle  corporate office headquarters is in Vevey, Switzerland (Nestle, 2006). The company was founded in 1866 by Henri Nestle and today is the worlds largest food and beverage company (Nestle,  2006). The company employs approximately 247,000 people in their factories and other operations which are present in nearly every country in the world (Nestle, 2006). Nestle current company strategy  is to promote the growth of existing products through renovation and innovation while sustaining their current balance in geographic activities and products. The company focuses on long-term potential not  short-term performance (Nestle, 2006). Nestle priority is to provide the best and most relevant products to all people, whatever their needs, wherever they are and throughout their lives (Nestle,  2006). The majority of American Consumers know Nestle primarily because of its candy bars. However, Nestle is the worlds largest food company. Chocolate only comprises about ten percent  of the total of the global sales (Nestle, 2006). In 2005, the company started concentrating more specifically on healthy foods in hopes that they could create a stand-alone nutrition
