    of a company. It is for this reason that operations management may be seen as an undervalued but is a very important aspect of any business. One definition of operations  management is supplied as "Operations managers make decisions regarding the operations function and its connection with other functions. The operations managers plan and control the production system and its  interfaces within the organization and with the external environment", this reflect the fact that operations defined as "responsible for supplying the product or service of the organization" (Anonymous, 2002).  Therefore, operations managers have a very important role to fulfil and may be seen as managing the physical resources a company has in order to maximise the production that is  gained from their usage. The range of topics covered by operations management is wide. The presence of operations management may be seen as strategic and tactical levels. For example,  operations management may be able to help determine the right location for a factory, by looking at the available sites the location of the inputs that are transformed into outputs  and an analysis of the different options. These may also include the size and capacity of the factories. This may also consider the destination market is. The determination of choices  need to be based on factual statistical evidence. This is at the highest level, but operations management is also seen at other levels. The strategic decision can also be  concerned with issues such as the production processes, how goods are made and managed, scheduling of production, the use of technology, and management of the supply chains and even the  management of communication channels.
