By imparting this significant responsibility upon its membership, the organization can better assist in the  multifarious components that comprise the overall decision-making process. The process by which the Society goes about performing business research for decision-making encompasses an educational approach, with the recipients many times  being graduate students in need of further research for their dissertations. Compiling research from other respected sources throughout the industry, SMDM members first articulate the issue to be researched  then cultivate myriad existing sources of information upon which to assemble a most comprehensive final product. For one student seeking her degree in  social psychology, the extent to which SMDM utilized its resources provided her with the much needed and hard to acquire information requisite for her degree. The manner by which  SMDM amassed this information - as well as information for every other research-based decision-making processes -- was by way of addressing cognitive psychology, operations research and decision theory, all of  which "underpin so much of health care research" performed by SMDM, placing this academic organization "in the forefront of the decision making theory and practice of the past two decades"  (Eisenberg, 2001, p. 12). A particularly pertinent aspect of the research process offered by SMDM is the extent to which the organization caters  to translating findings into various foreign languages. Clearly, the extent to which medical research pertains to the global community is duly noted and applied by the SMDM membership, inasmuch  as "fortifying the capacity for health services research will enable more researchers to conduct good research.
