His contribution to the entire anthropological field yielded as much support for this theories as  it did controversial backlash from his opposition; however, this only served to compel the prolific author to further his position in what is often considered to be the staple of  anthropological studies: Our Kind: Who We Are, Where We Came From, Where Are We Going. Within the fundamental framework of human culture exists  a dichotomy of anthropological applications that ultimately form mans behavior and outlook. These divergent elements, as espoused by Harris, help bring to light the very essence of what it  means to be part of a particular society based solely upon ones cultural understanding. Characteristic of humanitys constant quest for the concept of meaning, the journey of understanding has  come to represent myriad things to myriad people, ultimately rendering any universal explanation virtually impossible. The problem with meaning as it applies to culture is attempting to successfully pinpoint  a single yet comprehensive connotation to its concept; however, this cannot be achieved as long as any two individuals harbor decidedly different interpretations. It is important for the  one to understand that there exist myriad philosophies by which people live their lives, which help to maintain order and a sense of direction that otherwise would merely drift in  subconscious thought, representing the fundamental essence of Harris theories. Distinguishing these moral and ethical actions presses one to determine if the actions are  right or wrong based solely upon to what one is accustomed. This, then, begs the question that asks what denotes right and wrong, and what role does this play
