or the more they demanded for the goods that they consumer the more affluent they were perceived as. Consumerism has become a way of life. Most of life may be  seen as commercial, the desire to sell goods. This is seen in the way that goods, from cars to mobile telephones are placed in films to gain exposure and increase  the sales though the association of the product with the images in the films, Aston Martin placements in James Bind, Nokia telephones in Charlies Angles and so on, the list  is endless. It does not stop here, the programmes that are popular also suffer form being in a consumer society, related toys are produced and sol, with short shelve lives.  These range form Tele tubbies and Tweenies the X Files T-Shirts and Who Wants to Be A Millionaire computer games. The way that the choices are made can be  seen in terms of personal choices and values For example, recent studies have indicated there are two main ways that choices can be made by a consumer, both of these  look to the making if judgment values. Research into this area has identified that the process that goes on in this black  box is usually undertaken in one of two ways. This may be by the category-based evaluation or piecemeal processing (Hadjimarcou et al, 1999).  Category based decision making is a method of evaluating a product (Hadjimarcou et al, 1999). For example a consumer may be in a supermarket considering which brand of coffee  to buy. The category based process will involve the consumer will make use of the existing knowledge or memories that they already have regarding the product (Hadjimarcou et al, 1999).
