    Dr. Julie Abbott 10/2001 to Use This Paper Properly, INTRODUCTION This paper explains some of the methods that might be used  in an election campaign. It is written from the standpoint of the campaign manager, and uses suggestions that could be applicable to a number of different types of elections.  CAMPAIGN MANAGER This model paper will give the student some basic ideas that can be used in the paper needed regarding a Houston Mayor running for election. In  writing this as the campaign manager, the student will need to think up creative ways to make his candidate the most impressive one in the mayoral race, the one whose  name the people will remember when they step into the voting booth. CAMPAIGN STRATEGIES The media has more and more to do with the creation of certain slogans and  images within election campaigns. Much like advertising, these slogans help keep an image in the public eye, and by bombarding us with this image over and over, it is  hoped that we will become impacted by this image to the exclusion of all others. This type of advertising ploy is used in everything from products to political campaigns, but  the emphasis in this paper the student will want to put on the Mayoral race in Houston on November 6, 2001. A comparison of several campaigns will be provided  in this model paper for the student to consider, as well as how a campaign slogan can oftentimes be the tiebreaker in the mind of a voter. One good point  to remember is that in 1992 George Bush set aside the mudslinging and a focus on Clintons shady past in dodging the draft among other nefarious deeds when he spoke
