computer has been a boon to all types of individuals. Busy executives travel with them, many students rely on them for nearly all of their work. Salespeople are
never without theirs, either at home or out of town. They were valuable a decade ago when they were heavy and bulky; now that they are lighter weight, more
compact and much more powerful, laptop computers have become indispensable companions for growing numbers of people. Advancing technology and shrinking size have combined
to lead to other problems that did not exist years ago. Peripheral items are lighter weight as well, and deceiving in their ability to appear to be quite necessary.
The laptop mouse is notorious for its ability to irritate; the solution is to carry a full-size external one. The CD drive is likely to be internal, but
a floppy drive increasingly is likely to be external. There is the power supply for users who have more work than battery life. The user must carry a
telephone line. Many laptop users even carry small-scale printers or scanners, and the newest add-on gadget available is a folding external keyboard that extends for use to very nearly
full size. Add to these items the associated papers, disks and CDs that the user needs, and that lightweight, slimline laptop has grown to be heavy and bulky once
again. The solution for many has been to abandon the shoulder-style laptop bag for a rolling bag similar to the luggage that has
been adapted from the rolling pilot bag. Though quite handy and very likely indispensable for the traveling business person, the convenience of the laptop computer has become a necessity
